Mountain Biking Information

Corralea Activity Centre is in the heart of the rugged mountainous uplands and the gentle rolling lowlands of counties Fermanagh and Cavan and central to one of the largest forest in Ireland and the newest European Geopark (Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark).

Lets explore with us:

-the extensive forest tracks of Ballintempo, Glenfarne & Lough Navar Forests,

-the ancient bog roads of  the Burren & Glenfarne Mountains,

-the single tracks in Florencecourt Forest,

-the family cycle trails of Castle Archdale or Blessingbourne.

-or on site at Corralea, the purpose built bike trails, skills area and pump track.

All participants must have a minimum level of fitness.

All Mountain Biking trips are led by a qualified Trail Leader.

FAQ

  • When can I mountain bike?

Corralea Activity Centre Ltd. is open all year round and mountain biking is available all year round.

You pick your date and check availability with the centre. The more notice you give us, the better chance to secure a date (at least one week notice is advisable).

  • Can I go alone or do I need to be part of a group?

Normally, Corralea Activity Centre Ltd. operates with group sizes of 7-10 people at any one time.

However mountain biking for smaller groups and individuals is possible. The cost per person will vary with the size of the group (proportionally more expensive for individuals).

  • A typical Mountain biking session

10am: Meet your instructor for trip. Alllocation of biking equipment (bike, helmet). Bring your packed lunch (full day only). Rucksacks will be provided to transport lunches.

You will get familiar with your bike with a short skills warm up and depending on your outing will travel offsite to the relevant trail. Bikes are transported by the centre. You travel with your own vehicle.

If you are doing the centre trail or pump track you will stay on site.

You can experience a mountain biking session (1/2 day or a full day) or as part of a week-end away: Please see our “Adventure package” or “Mountain bike away & canoe home eco package”

  • What do I need to bring?

We provide all specialised equipment: bike, gloves, helmet, water bottle. You are welcome to bring your own bike and helmet if you wish.

You need to wear comfortable warm clothes e.g. Tracksuit, fleece, warm socks and bring a waterproof.

If you are coming to the centre for a full day, bring a packed lunch.

Your Trail Leader will bring first aid kit and repair kit.

  • What about insurance?

Corralea Activity Centre Ltd. has full public liability insurance.

The centre requires a booking form to be completed with relevant medical information about participants prior to caving trip.

All trips are led by a fully qualified Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) approved by the SMBLA.
